Please read the chapter on Primeval Reptiles, this should take about 1 hour. In your lapbook, explain the 4 "Saurs". 1. Nothosaur 2. Mosasaur 3. Plesiosaur 4. Pliosaur: give basic descriptions in bullet points. Try to list the types of things they have in common such as length. Also do the same for the Ichthyosaur. Try to find pictures from the internet. This should take another hour. Read about the Try This, but don't actually do them.
Level B students: in addition look at the Notebook Activity p 85. Read Job 41 and complete a Venn Diagram in your lapbook. This should take a 3rd hour.
I hope this will not be too much since you have 3 weeks. It's the only way to get this chapter done without cramming it in next semester.
For our first day back 1-10-12, read p 87-91: write vocabulary with definitions in your notebook.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

HOMEWORK FOR FRIDAY THE 16TH
Sorry this is late: complete the experiment speculation worksheet. The YouTube video we watched does not match the experiment in the book exactly and neither do the materials. The basics are wire, a glass of distilled water, salt, a battery, and a light bulb. The procedure is similar, as are the results. Be sure to tie the conclusion with the facts from the book as we discussed in class.
As I mentioned to several of you, over break I will assign the reading of the chapter we skipped on Primeval Reptiles, and I will require a detailed assignment for the lapbook. It will be the only work on the chapter and the only work for break, then regular work assignment to read and take notes for the fish chapter when we get back in January.
See you Friday

HOMEWORK FOR TUESDAY THE 13TH
We didn't finish our review sheet in class, so finish at home and study for the test. The review isn't graded so it's up to you if you want to use it. The answers come in order in the book, but call me if you can't figure something out. I'm fixing lunch for school on Tuesday so I'll be shopping then cooking, but I'll do my best to be available by phone. You should know which type of shark is in each order for matching.
I hope to have time for the experiment after the test. Can I have a mom available in class to read the test out loud if students need it? Please let me know. Thanks

HOMEWORK FOR FRIDAY THE 9TH
I had another chat with the students about discipline today. We had a measure of improvement but still need to cut out some chatter and talking out of turn. Please address this at home.
We discussed and took notes on the rest of the Lesson. I was disappointed most had not even read the 3 pages eventhough this was clear on the blog.
The homework is the write a creative story of two people at the beach maybe talking about avoiding shark bites. Use the information from the book. You should have enough for 1/2 to 3/4 of a page for LEVEL A and a full page for LEVEL B. Or you can just give facts, but you cannot copy straight from the book. Several students were surprised to learn they do all the wrong things to attract sharks! Beware!
If I can get all the materials, we will do the experiment in class if not it may have to wait until Tuesday. We will have a review sheet on Friday.
See you then.

HOMEWORK FOR TUESDAY THE 6TH
Please finish reading the lesson. You can skip taking notes so long as you agree to take notes in class Tuesday. Focus on your lapbook research:
LEVEL A choose 2 rays, find pictures and give characteristics 4-5 of each animal
also choose 2 shark orders from the lesson, list what type of sharks are in it, find pictures and list characteristics again 4-5.
LEVEL B Choose 2 rays, same as above, + 4 shark orders and do as Level A.
Have a great weekend.
