Parents,
what eager students we have! Today we read p1-2, looked over the book, and discussed animal habitats and classification. Although these topics aren't in our lesson, I asked the students to take notes for possible extra credit later on. I handed out Lapbook notebooks, colored composition books. They each wrote their name and lapbook on it to distinguish it from their note taking composition book. The Lapbook will be for the more creative assignments, drawings, pictures, charts, etc.
Please look up p xi for experiment supplies for this lesson. It includes Try This p 7 & 15.
Locate Ocean Box and cover it blue with paint, construction or poster paper. See p 17.
Homework:
Read and take notes on vocabulary, word and definition, p2-8 (in notebook). Sorry kids I gave you the wrong p # in class. Do the Try This p 7 without making a mess. Find pictures of deep sea creatures 3-5 on the internet, print them to bring to class, including the name of the animal and one other bit of information. Google deep sea creatures. Also in the Lapbook, decorate the first white page with "Lesson One", color, draw, get pictures of anything else from Lesson 1. Have fun, go wild, or keep it simple. It's your lapbook. Keep it neat, don't let markers bleed through the page please!
